Working groups

Foreningen Kollegienet Odense
The association Kollegienet Odense is run by a number of volunteer students from Odense, primarily students at the University of Southern Denmark. Everyone in the association, except the general manager and technical staff, is unpaid. The volunteers are divided into a number of specialized working groups, as well as a board of directors elected by the board of representatives of the association.

Netgroups
The network group takes care of the association's network. This includes maintenance, monitoring and upgrading. The network group also helps with the connection of new members. The equipment the network group works with is primarily from Cisco.

Server groups
The server group takes care of FKO's server park. This includes the operation of services such as mail, DNS, Apache, MySQL, etc. The server group is constantly working to optimize the server structure, e.g. by virtualizing servers via VMware. Almost all tasks that fall within the server group's area are performed on Linux machines.

Become a volunteer
There's always room for one more on the FKO volunteer team. There are many benefits to volunteering at FKO. Many of our volunteers use FKO to gain experience for their CV. This can be in the form of technical expertise by being part of the netgroup or server group, or it can be board work where technical knowledge is not a must. In addition to FKO contributing to your CV, we offer several activities that make it attractive to be a volunteer. During the year, we organize Christmas lunches, FKCamp etc. for all volunteers. In addition to the annual events, there are opportunities to participate in larger events such as opensource days.
